My 20th short story

Last summer, I set myself the objective of writing five short stories and managed it. My good friend Ivan told me then: “I know you, Roger. You’ll continue writing …”

He was right and today I’ve put on my web site my 20th story. It’s called “It Isn’t Over …” Please have a read and let me know what you think.

Oh that’s gorgeous. I could picture it all.

I loved the story. This side of being a parent is rarely explored. It’s very tender.

I really enjoyed reading this story. It was fascinating to see how a young person’s feelings and attitude to life can not only affect their family but also can change in time.

Although he was hurt and upset to ‘lose’ his only child, the father kept his cool and didn’t fall out with his son. Even when his son met Donna who was American, the father fretted that they would live far away in her home country thus ‘losing’ him again. And, when the son decided to not get married after all, the father couldn’t but help to feel disappointed that his son and Donna would have been ideally married and living in England.

How wonderful that his son went off to travel and live his life without any angst from his parents (although inside they must have been hurting). And then the happy ending (hopefully, as “It isn’t over till it’s over – and then it isn’t over”) where he settled down with his Indian wife, a good job with travel, twins on the way.

    Delightful short story!
