Why America is the greatest country in the world

Actually it isn’t – as explained in this great clip from the first episode of “The Newsroom” which I ‘ve just watched on British television (Sky Atlantic channel):

Great, and if only that was a real speech on real TV rather than in a fiction. The most realistic bit was the deadly silence as his audience sat stunned at these home truths. That was credible, but their silence in real life would be shock at the insult to their great nation, the greatest in the world in their eyes. How has the cult of dumbness taken hold with such ease?

Maybe because I don’t go to movies, I’ve never seen Newsroom. I don’t know when it came out, but that clip is superb. It says all the things I’ve wished to say. I must find the DVD and watch it. As you Brits say, it is spot on. And I despair as an American if we will ever be able to rstore what is lost.

Babs, It is not a film but a television programme. In the USA, it is on HBO and I believe that it is showing currently.
