I was born and raised in Darlington. I now live in Canada. I was glued to the live coverage of the torch through Darlington and could not believe the route they took. They went through the worst area they could pick and missed ‘Darlington proper’ altogether! No sign of downtown, the town clock, the High Row, the market square, St. Cuthbert’s Church, NOTHING!
Having woken up this morning full of optimism and excitement to see ‘Darlo’ supposedly showcased as the Olympic torch passed through, I am now absolutely disgusted and depressed that my town of birth was so shoddily represented and completely overlooked!
BAD JOB OLYMPIC ORGANIZERS. REALLY BAD JOB!!!
I think you owe Darlington and its people a big public apology!
The route of the Olympic torch was planned many months ago in consultation with local authorities. I wonder if the Council in Darlington protested at the time.
The experience on the day must have been very disappointing for the citizens of the town.
