Happy birthday Silvia

Today it is the 60th birthday of my sister Silvia. I’m the only person alive who has known her for every one of those 60 years and I can’t believe that my little sister – she’s two years younger than me – has reached such an age.

Silvia held a celebratory event in the Regency Hotel in Leicester with around 60 family and friends and it was a marvellous celebration of her immense capacity for love and friendship.

Unfortunately our brother Ralph could not be there because of travel problems. He went over to Ghent to deliver a paper to an academic event and then found that he could not fly back because of the volcanic ash from Iceland.
