    Are you saying complaints are bad?

    Complaints are good. Only made by confident, well informed and empowered customers who want more for their money.

    Shouldn’t be about how many complaints are made but how well the company does in satisfying the complainants.

    You make a fair point, Andy. Complaints have a number of dimensions in terms of indications to consumers of quality of service. All other things being equal, if one company has more complaints in proportion to its customer base than its competitors, there is cause for concern. Important as well though is how quickly and satisfactorily those complaints are handled, what proportion of those complaints are the subject of appeal to the alternative dispute resolution procedure/ombudsman, and what proportion of those that are appealed are upheld by the ombudsman.
