Two months ago, our son Richard, his wife Emily and their daughter Catrin relocated to Nairobi in Kenya as a result of his work. He is now the Head of Strategic Advocacy for an organisation called Well Told Story. So this week, Vee and I are going to visit them for the first time.  It […]

For the past 31 Fridays, I’ve been revisiting my collection of short stories. This week’s piece – “Dying For Pint” – is the last that I have written and you can read it here. Perhaps inspiration will seize me and I’ll write some more stories sometime. Meanwhile I hope that you’ve enjoyed at least some […]

Now I’m zooming down the information superhighway as my broadband speed is boosted by a factor of 10

October 2nd, 2015 by Roger Darlington

I’ve never worried too much about my broadband speed since all I do is e-mail and web browsing. So I was pretty content with my download speed of up to 2.74 Mbps and upload speed of up to 0.76 Mbps. But recently my son and his family relocated to Nairobi, so I’ve started to use […]

My Apple Watch is very unforgiving

September 30th, 2015 by Roger Darlington

September 25th, 2015 by Roger Darlington

Many of my short stories are loosely inspired by some experience in my life. Almost five years ago now, I became a granddad with the birth of my granddaughter Catrin. This got me thinking about memory and when it begins and how temporary it is. As a result, I wrote a short story called “This […]

What Jeremy Corbyn and I have in common

September 15th, 2015 by Roger Darlington

Apparently the new Leader of the Labour Party frequents a central London cafe called “Gaby’s” which is one of my favourites too. All is explained in this news clip. In fact, such is my love of “Gaby’s” that I set my first short story there. It is called “Making A Difference” and you can read […]

My 27th short story: “A Shot In The Dark”

September 11th, 2015 by Roger Darlington

Each Friday, I highlight one of my collection of self-written short stories. If you’ve read a few of them, you’ll know that the subject matter and style vary a lot. This week’s story, entitled “A Shot In The Dark”,  is rooted in the Arab/Israeli conflict and raises some moral questions. You can read it here.
