My offer to be a London Ambassador (6)
Fourteen months ago, I did my first posting about my wish to be a London Ambassador for the 2012 Olympic Games. Today I received this e-mail:
“Thank you for attending your recent London Ambassadors recruitment event. The recruitment events closed on Friday 5 August, after 195 days of interviews, and we were extremely impressed by candidates’ quality, enthusiasm and energy.
Interest in the London Ambassadors programme has been incredibly high, with applications far exceeding the number of roles available. With such a positive response, we’ve been unable to offer a role to everyone who attended a recruitment event, and unfortunately you haven’t been chosen to be a London Ambassador.
We appreciate this may be disappointing news, and that you may wish to receive feedback on why you haven’t been successful. However, due to the large number of candidates we saw at the recruitment events, we are unable to provide individual feedback on interview performance.”
I am genuinely surprised and very disappointed.

That’s too bad, Roger. It’s a shame because I know how much you were looking forward to it.

Roger,
it’s very sad news :o(
They are evidently so unwise that they don’t know how much extraordinary gentleman thy lose!

Roger, I was rejected as well. But it won’t stop me helping people find their way around. On Monday it was a family of Australians at Kings X trying to find Platform 9 3/4. Not easy in the midst of all that building work!

Good to know that I’m not the only one to be rejected, Geoff, but sorry that you too had to be disappointed.
Like you, I’m constantly stopping and helping visitors to London – the latest, a couple of Chinese looking for New Scotland Yard.

I have come to this late.
Ageism springs to my mind. We do encounter it in places you never expect it.
Ask them how many people, over 60 were used.
This ageism must be stopped.

I was told that I was declined the other week and yesterday got an “extra offer” so don’t give up. 🙂
