My latest short story: “The Storyteller Of Damascus”
It’s six months since I wrote a short story, but this week I crafted my 30th. It’s called “The Storyteller Of Damascus” and you can read it here.
I’ve had the story in mind since I visited Syria just over two years ago and I was prompted to write it now by the news that the death toll from the Syrian civil war is now estimated to be around 100,000.

Nice story, Roger. The ‘hakawati’ tradition is alive and well in other countries of the Middle East. In Palestinian East Jerusalem there is a theater named Al Hakawati, where a modern theater troupe puts on plays, you should check it out next time you travel to Israel and Palestine.
