What is motivating al-Qaeda?

According to this interesting article, it is not simply retaliation against the West for alleged injustices but it is more fundamentally an interpretation of Islam that sees non-Muslims as infidels. If this is the case, then the West alone cannot stop the terrorism; the theological justification for such terrorism must be challenged by mainstream Muslims.

The two worlds have been fighting for 1000 years. It will not change. One groups believes it has a right to tell people how to live: the other side the people say they have a right to decide.
Who said the streets will run red with blood.

I do not know who said the ‘streets will run red with blood’, what I do know is that we have learnt more efficient ways of killing each other.
But do not despair ‘man’s inhumanity to man’ will disappear eventually, either with better education, more of us trying or climate change which will wipe us of the face of this wonderful planet.
PS There is only ‘one’ world, unless I have slept a lot and the quicker we stop talking about first world, second world and third worlds the better. People will then realise there is only one and we all have to try and live on it in harmony.
