Eight things meme

I have been tagged by by American cyber-buddy Dana for a meme which involves me listing eight things about me (I think the spirit of the idea is that these should be things that you might not know). I won’t continue the meme by tagging other bloggers but I’ll offer you this list:

  1. My name comes from my father’s service in the Royal Air Force at the end of the Second World War (“Roger and out!”)
  2. One of my favorites films in “Lawrence Of Arabia” – my review here.
  3. When I was 18, I sailed both ways across the Atlantic for a trip to Canada
  4. One of my favourite desserts is banoffee pie – explanation here.
  5. I’ve now visited 46 countries – but I want to see many more.
  6. I have a son of whom I am insanely proud – but would love to have had a daughter too.
  7. My favourite television programme was “The West Wing”
  8. I once addressed a Labour Party Branch meeting in the living room of an elderly member who died during my speech (but nobody noticed until the end of my remarks).
