Farewell (for now) Jonathan Ross
I’ve only just watched a recording of this week’s “Friday Night With Jonathan Ross” show on BBC television. As the BBC have not renewed his contract, it was his last such show. He interviewed Mickey Rourke, Jackie Chan and David Beckham and song was provided by Roxy Music.
I’m a big fan of Jonathan Ross and believe that he is the best presenter on British television – warm, funny and knowledgeable.
What he did in relation to Andrew Sachs was utterly wrong and he paid the price financially and professionally. Before the Sachs affair, his on-air humour could be a bit too salacious but he scaled it back.
So I’m really sorry to see him leave our screens and Friday nights will be the poorer for it but, after a a sabbatical, he’ll be back next year on ITV and I’ll be watching.
