Do you like films that have a political theme?

As regular readers of NightHawk will know, I’m a big film fan. I enjoy most genres except horror and (usually) musicals. I’m very interested in politics, so I’m attracted to movies with a political setting or a political subject.

I’ve devoted a section of my web site to such political films and reviewed 67 of them here.

Thanks Roger. Nice to have a list to start the New Year with!

For your interest, also worth watching are the TV movies “Citizen Cohn” (1992) and “Truman” (1995), and the 2008 miniseries “John Adams”.

I recently re-watched the films “Amazing Grace” (2006) and “Good Night and Goodluck” (2005) which have stories based in politics.

There is also the excellent film trilogy “The Deal”, “The Queen” and “The Special Relationship”.

There are very few Australian political films. I’ve wondered why there has been no movie made yet of the events of The Dismissal in Australia, though there’s a fascinating 1983 TV series.

    Thanks for the tips, Nadine.

I admired the series “John Adams” very much and, of course the director Tom Hooper has gone on to great film success.

We are current watching the television mini-series “The Honourable Woman” which revolves around the Arab/Israeli conflict.
