A very happy 95th birthday to Nelson Mandela
Over the last few weeks, many of us feared that it would not happen, but today we celebrate the 95th birthday of Nelson Mandela, the most inspirational leader of my life time.
I have visited Robben Island where Mandela was imprisoned [my account here] and where I bought his biography “Long Walk To Freedom” [my review here].
Since the summer of 2007, there has been a statue of Mandela in London’s Parliament Square.

But I actually got to see Nelson Mandela for real on 3 February 2005 when – aged almost 88 – he spoke in Trafalgar Square in support of the Make Poverty History movement.
Stay with us as long as you can, Madiba.
