The first sign of Christmas
This morning, the post brought us our first Christmas catalogue – the price of ordering and sending charity Christmas cards each year. The organisation concerned is Amnesty International – an immensely worthy body, but one that I would rather waited a while before encouraging us to order things for the Christmas season. After all, it is still 129 days to Christmas.

We saw Christmas trees in a shop in Glasgow on Saturday (admittedly very small), plus a sign for a restaurant that was “taking Christmas party bookings”.
Sometimes I wish we had a thanksgiving type event to take some of this ridiculously early buildup away.
There’s even a Christmas shop in Callendar (just outside of Stirling) you can go to all year round if you want.
Worry not. This will all be resolved come the revolution.
