Treating myself for my birthday

I was a very early adopter of the iPhone [first posting here] and, after four and a half years with the same phone, I have been wondering when I should upgrade.

Similarly I was a very early adopter of the iPad [first posting here] and, after two years, again I have been wondering when I should upgrade.

So today – my 64th birthday – I went along to a shop of my mobile network operator to discuss obtaining a new iPhone. I was persuaded not to go now for the iPhone 4 but to wait until the Autumn for the iPhone 5.

But I really wanted to treat myself today, so I went home and ordered online from the Apple Store the New iPad (aka the third generation) and a fancy cover. Can’t wait to play …

    Hello Roger

A mobile provider shop is the last place I’d want to be on my birthday! Loud music, bright lights, nowhere to sit, not even a counter to queue at anymore…

We’ve had iphones for a couple of years. My husband has so far resisted getting an ipad, but his resistance is wearing down. What do you like about yours?

    Cheers

    Nadine

PS Did you have a nice birthday cake?

There is a saying that the only difference between men and boys, are their toys. Happy birthday 🙂

    Hi, Nadine.

The great thing about the iPad is that it is so accessible – it just sits around the living room on any surface or goes in my brief case – and it is so useable – it comes on immediately and everything is touch screen with no mouse or keyboard.

    Hi, David.

    Yep, I’m a boy!

Thanks Roger. I’m not sure I want another device on the dining table, inviting more looking up of things. It does interfere with the flow of conversation! What I would like however is one attached to the fridge, with the online grocery shopping list, and recipes. I wonder if you can get them with a magnetic back. Also, do you keep documents somewhere in the “cloud” so you can access them from all your devices? Cheers, Nadine

  • Roger Darlington

Yes, all documents on the iPad are now backed up in the cloud.
