What a way to spend a birthday

It was my birthday on Monday. So did I spend the evening having a delicious celebratory meal with my wife?
No – instead, as a representative of Postwatch, I was speaking at a protest meeting against a proposed conversion of a Crown post office in Fulham into a franchise operation by WHSmith. Predictably I had a rough time, since Postwatch cannot block such conversions and in fact understands the case for them.
You can read a blog posting on the meeting from a local Conservative councillor here.

That’s a unique way to celebrate a birthday. I’ll be celebrating my birthday next week, too. Instead of the usual birthday parties with friends and family, I’ll be celebrating it on some mountains with tribesmen. This is because I’m still on duty for my voluntary work.
