It’s a funny month
According to a good Chinese friend, this October – which has five Fridays, five Saturdays and five Sundays – only happens once in every 823 years. It seems that, in feng shui terms, this is a great time for money. Tell that to the victims of the Comprehensive Spending Review.

The calendar repeats every 28 years (*), so 1982 also had five Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Checking the calendar, it also happened in 2004, 1999, and 1993. So, rather than it happening once every 823 years, it actually happens four times every 28 years!
(*) Ignoring “dropped” leap years, such as 1900, where the year is divisible by 100 but not 400.

The above is just for October, of course. If we looked at all 31-day months, it would happen even more often. For example, January 2010 and May 2009 both contained five Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

I never did believe in feng shui!

I am a Chinese guy myself, I don’t believe in Feng Shui at all, but, so many ‘rich’ people do in China, maybe they don’t have better things to do? but, one fact is they are a lot richer than me. I would believe that they tend to believe more feng shui after they became rich, which means that they have more time and could spare more effort and have more ‘worries’…
