Who is Klaus Schwab?

He is the founder and chairman of the World Economic Forum which has been meeting annually in Davos, Switzerland, for the past 36 years.
Klaus himself is a German-born 68 year old academic who has been a professor of business policy at Geneva University since 1972. Last year, I was at a conference in Geneva which he addressed. You can read a profile of him here.
The World Economic Forum brings together a network of some 2,400 global decision-makers and is currently in session. This year, one of the attendees is Phillip Jennings, the General Secretary of the global union Union Network International in which I was active when I was a national trade union official. He has used the event to attack the growing influence of private equity firms. You can read about his views here.
