Visit to Bekonscot

Two weeks ago, Vee and I returned from a three-week trip to China with our Chinese ‘family’ Zhihao, Hua and Joshua [for an account, see here]. Today we all got together again for the first time since our holiday to celebrate Joshua’s third birthday and we were joined by three Chinese friends of Hua & Zhihao including another three year old boy.

Vee and I had suggested a venue for our gathering which we used to visit with our son Richard when he was small (he’s now 33). It’s model village just north-west of London called Bekonscot. We were worried about the weather because the day started with rain in London but, by the time we reached the venue, the rain had stopped and the sun was trying to appear.

Dating back to 1929, Bekonscot claims to be the oldest model village in the world. Today it consists of six model sites with a total of 3,000 little people plus an extensive model railway. There’s also a miniature railway which we rode and a playground where the two boys had lots of fun.

A good time was had by all three generations.
