I have seen every episode of the seven series and viewed the first five series twice. Now, in the last two series, we see the non-white character Matt Santos win the Democratic candidacy and then the Presidency itself.<br \/>\nOne cannot help but be reminded of this narrative as one watches the astonishing rise and rise of Barack Obama. So it&#8217;s fascinating to learn in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/world\/2008\/feb\/21\/barackobama.uselections2008\">this article<\/a> that the scriptwriter for this section of &#8220;The West Wing&#8221; partially modelled the character on Obama.<br \/>\nAs the piece puts it: &#8220;The result is a bizarre case of art imitating life &#8211; only for life to imitate art back again.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am a huge fan of the American television series &#8220;The West Wing&#8221;.
