In the evening, I attended a seminar on the Government&#8217;s recent White Paper on water convened by the think tank the Europrean Policy Forum. It was addressed by Water Minister Richard Benyon and many water experts &#8211; all of whom underlined the need for the UK to have more sustainable policies in relation to our use of water.<\/p>\n<p>The South East has had the dried winter since 1992 with only 73% of expected rainfall. Since October 2010, the region has had 80% of the long-term average rainfall. leading to a huge cumulative shortfall.
