(2)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A week ago, I blogged <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/nighthawk\/2007\/09\/another_cry_in_the_dark.html\">here<\/a> about how the increasingly feverish speculation over the alleged involvement of missing Madeleine McCann&#8217;s parents in her supposed death reminded me of the Australian case of Lindy Chamberlain. Today it is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/crime\/article\/0,,2169824,00.html\">reported<\/a> that the Australian mother herself, now 59 year old Lindy Chamberlain-Creighton, has spoken out in support of Kate and Gerry McCann.<br \/>\nWhatever the outcome in this awful case &#8211; and sadly we may never know the full truth &#8211; there will need to be a serious inquest into the role of the media in reporting as fact what is often rumour and in jumping to conclusions that are unsupported by evidence.
