{"id":6342,"date":"2011-08-03T19:20:53","date_gmt":"2011-08-03T18:20:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/nighthawk\/?p=6342"},"modified":"2011-08-03T23:05:58","modified_gmt":"2011-08-03T22:05:58","slug":"catrin-i-visit-appearing-rooms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/nighthawk\/?p=6342","title":{"rendered":"Catrin &#038; I visit &#8216;Appearing Rooms&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I spent the afternoon with my granddaughter Catrin who is now six and a half months old and phasing in to attendance at a nursery.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/Catrin8.jpg\" border=\"3\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<span>&#8220;Corr, it ain&#8217;t &#8216;arf hot here in London town&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>It was really\u00a0 hot (30C\/86F), so I thought it would be fun to visit the &#8216;Appearing Rooms&#8217; fountain on the South Bank in central London.<\/p>\n<p>Danish artist Jeppe Hein&#8217;s aquatic sculpture was originally commissioned for the garden of the Villa Manin, Italy.  Inspired by the Baroque villa, he designed an ornamental fountain that  combines sculpture, architecture, and technology.<\/p>\n<p>Catrin &amp; I watched all the kids rushing in and out of the fountain, screaming with excitement, and getting pretty wet. We ventured in twice as well. Catrin found it all fascinating.
