I&#8217;m a fervent film fan and love movies of most genres.<\/p>\n<p>These two interests come together in respect of films that feature trade unions or least workers asserting their rights. But, believe me, there aren&#8217;t many of these. I&#8217;ve reviewed25 of them <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/tufilms.html\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I was reminded of all this by<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.independent.co.uk\/2011\/07\/12\/why-arent-there-more-films-about-collective-bargaining\/\"> a recent posting<\/a> on an &#8220;Independent&#8221; newspaper blog by James Undy who clearly shares my interests and recommends a new French film called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1521848\/\">&#8220;Potiche&#8221;<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was a national trade union official for 24 years of my working life and believe that all genuinely free societies need strong, representative and independent labour organisations.
