I felt that the web was missing a short and\u00a0 accessible &#8211; and accurate &#8211; guide to this most important of scientific thoughts. Since then, the essay has benefited from a number of revisions as a result of detailed and helpful comments from my scientific friends Nick Hobson and Phil Holt.<\/p>\n<p>Now we have to hope that people will read and think about the essay. In that earlier posting, I wrote:\u00a0 &#8216;One test of the extent to which this essay meets a need will be how long  it takes for a Google search on the words &#8220;case for evolution&#8221;\u00a0 to  bring my work onto the first page of results.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Well, just one week on, if you put inverted commas around those three words in a Google search, the clever search engine brings it up on the first page. Don&#8217;t you just love the power of the web?<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, if you use those three words without inverted commas, the top item is a piece putting the case <em>against<\/em> evolution.
