It was established 65 years ago today as a special agency  within the United Nations that would work to further peace and security through educational, scientific and cultural collaboration among countries.<\/p>\n<p>A UNESCO intergovernmental committee is meeting in Nairobi, Kenya from 15-19  November to evaluate 51 elements of<a href=\"http:\/\/www.unesco.org\/culture\/ich\/\"> intangible cultural heritage<\/a> from 29  countries &#8211; including Ojkanke singing (Croatia), Chhau dance (India) and  Flamenco (Spain) &#8211; for inclusion on the Urgent Safeguarding List and  the Representative List.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UNESCO is the acronym for United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization.
