There was a link from the posting to some of the questions posed.<\/p>\n<p>Now, thanks to a recommendation from an American friend, I&#8217;d like to link to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/10\/10\/opinion\/10kristof.html?_r=1&amp;emc=eta1\">a piece<\/a> in the &#8220;New York Times&#8221; which presents a 13-question quiz that I think you&#8217;ll find find particularly interesting.<\/p>\n<p>Nicholas D. Kristof concludes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;&#8230; religion is more complicated than it sometimes seems, and &#8230; we should  be wary of rushing to inflammatory conclusions about any faith,  especially based on cherry-picking texts. The most crucial element is  perhaps not what is in our scriptures, but what is in our hearts.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I agree with this, but I would also argue that <em>all<\/em> religious texts are of their time and should not be interpreted literally as applying to our modern world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You might have seen my earlier posting about the results of a survey in the United States examining how much people knew &#8211; in most cases, very little &#8211; about various religious faiths including their own.
