Then, more recently, I read Michelle Obama\u2019s work <strong><em>\u201cBecoming\u201d<\/em><\/strong> [my review\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/Biographies#Becoming\">click here<\/a>]. I\u2019m a huge fan of the Obamas and looked forward immensely to Barack Obama\u2019s memoirs of his time in the White House. <strong><em>\u201cA Promised Land\u201d<\/em><\/strong> made ideal reading for the third UK lockdown of the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Obama was US president for the eight years January 2009 \u2013 January 2017. It was September 2020 when he published the first volume of his memoirs <strong><em>&#8220;A Promised Land&#8221;.<\/em><\/strong> It ran to 700 pages but only covered the first half of his first term. Six years later, there is still no sign of the second volume.
