It evokes images of a venomous snake or \u2013 if you\u2019re a movie fan like me \u2013 the 1986 Sylvester Stallone action film of that name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, the truth is much more prosaic. Cobra is simply an acronym.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It stands for&nbsp;<strong>C<\/strong>abinet<strong>&nbsp;O<\/strong>ffice<strong>&nbsp;B<\/strong>riefing&nbsp;<strong>R<\/strong>oom&nbsp;<strong>A<\/strong>.&nbsp; Cobra meetings are held in Downing Street, within Cabinet Office buildings.
