Following the death of Amalia Rodriques, Mariza Nunes<\/a> is probably the greatest living exponent of a form of music very special to Portugal called ‘fado’<\/a>. I first came across this music when I visited Lisbon for the first time in 1993 to attend a conference and it moved me deeply.
