I confess that I&#8217;d never heard of the term until I read <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/education\/2021\/jan\/23\/dear-gavin-williamson-could-you-tell-parents-what-a-fronted-adverbial-is?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other\">an article<\/a> in today&#8217;s &#8220;Guardian&#8221; newspaper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even then, I had no idea what it was and I&#8217;m a reasonably well-educated and well-read senior citizen. But I&#8217;ve now looked it up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Adverbials<\/strong>&nbsp;are words or phrases that give more information to the sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&#8220;I discovered fronted adverbials, earlier today.&#8221;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8216;Earlier today&#8217; is the adverbial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&#8220;Earlier today, I discovered fronted adverbials.&#8221;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A fronted adverbial is when the adverbial word or phrase is moved to the front of the sentence, before the verb. So here, &#8216;earlier today&#8217; is a fronted adverbial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now you know.
