I learned so much. For instance, I knew nothing about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/cities\/2016\/aug\/12\/lost-cities-merv-worlds-biggest-city-razed-turkmenistan?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other\">the lost city of Merv<\/a> where an estimated 700,000 were slaughted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, I do know something about the history of Persia\/Iran from my reading of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/history2.html#IranianHistory\">a couple of books<\/a> on the subject and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/Iran.html\">my visit to the country<\/a> in 2009. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is a fascinating country with such a long history and fabulous architecture.
