For a couple of months now, I’ve been attending a Monday evening class at the City Literary Institute in London where we have been discussing some recent successful films and comparing them to earlier movies. This evening, we’re scheduled to discuss last night’s Academy Awards.<\/p>\n
But, the film of the night is one of the few award winners that I’ve not actually seen. I refer, of course, to “The Shape Of Water”<\/em>, which received 13 nominations and won four awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. I will have to see it this week.<\/p>\n However, I have seen “Darkest Hour”<\/em> [my review here<\/a>] which attracted the Best Actor award for Gary Oldman and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”<\/em>\u00a0[my review here<\/a>] which took Best Actress for Frances McDormand.<\/p>\n Other award winners which I have seen and admired are “Dunkirk”<\/em> [my review here<\/a>] and “Blade Runner Runner 2049”<\/em>\u00a0[my review here<\/a>] which swept the board with the technical awards and “Get Out” [my review here<\/a>] which won Best Original Screenplay.<\/p>\n
