Some 3,000 pilots took to the skies with the Royal Air Force and one of them was my wife&#8217;s father the Czech <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/nighthawk.html\">Karel Kuttelwascher<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The leader of the RAF&#8217;s 11 Group at that time was the illustrious New Zealander Keith Park.\u00a0 It is planned to have a statue of Park unveiled to mark the 70th anniversary of Battle of Britain Day on 15 September 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile there is a temprary (six month) display of the statue in London&#8217;s Trafalgar Square where I admired it on a recent visit.
