{"id":17241,"date":"2015-05-07T09:21:18","date_gmt":"2015-05-07T08:21:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/nighthawk\/?p=17241"},"modified":"2015-05-07T09:21:18","modified_gmt":"2015-05-07T08:21:18","slug":"british-general-election-15-todays-the-day-and-it-couldnt-be-closer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/nighthawk\/?p=17241","title":{"rendered":"British general election (15): today&#8217;s the day and it couldn&#8217;t be closer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/politics\/2015\/may\/06\/general-election-2015-britain-heading-for-hung-parliament\">front page article<\/a> in today&#8217;s &#8220;Guardian&#8221; newspaper summarises the position this morning:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Britain is heading for a second hung parliament in succession after the most drawn-out election campaign since the war appeared to be ending in near deadlock with Labour and the Conservatives tied at 35% each according to the preliminary results of the final Guardian\/ICM campaign poll.<\/p>\n<p>Ed Miliband\u2019s party has pulled back three points on ICM\u2019s previous campaign poll, published nine days ago, with the Conservatives remaining unchanged. Previous ICM surveys had reported Conservative leads, ranging from six to two points.<\/p>\n<p>Labour\u2019s recovery appears to have been helped by a last-week squeeze at the political fringe: Ukip and the Greens both slip back two points, to 11% and 3% respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The Liberal Democrats are unchanged on 9%, a buoyant Scottish National party climbs one to a Britain-wide score of 5%.
