There are so many places of armed conflict and human rights abuse around the globe that it’s tempting to cut oneself off from the news or to focus only on the current or largest threats like Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. But we should not overlook other trouble spots such as Uzbekistan where there are up to 12,000 political prisoners.<\/p>\n
Human Rights Watch has just published a new report on the country entailed “Until The Very End”.\u00a0This 121-page report presents disturbing new findings about the treatment of 34 of Uzbekistan\u2019s most prominent people imprisoned on politically motivated charges. They include two of the world\u2019s longest imprisoned journalists and others who have languished behind bars for more than two decades.<\/p>\n
