It&#8217;s the first season of an American series  that I&#8217;d not heard of before <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Unit\">&#8220;The Unit&#8221;<\/a>. I&#8217;ve now watched all <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_The_Unit_episodes\">13 episodes<\/a> in the first season.<br \/>\nBased on show producer Eric Haney&#8217;s book, &#8220;Inside Delta Force: The Story of America&#8217;s Elite Counterterrorist Unit&#8221;, &#8220;The Unit&#8221; was created for television and executive produced by David Mamet and Shawn Ryan. It is unusual in combining in each episode a counter-terrorism operation in various parts of the world with narrative involving the wives back at the base.<br \/>\nThe lead character Sergeant Major Jonas Blane is played by Dennis Haysbert whom I saw as the US President in the early seasons of &#8220;24&#8221;.<br \/>\nI&#8217;ve rather enjoyed it &#8220;The Unit&#8221;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While my wife has been away in the Czech Republic, I&#8217;ve been viewing a DVD box set loaned to me by my son.
