{"id":1528,"date":"2009-08-15T11:42:49","date_gmt":"2009-08-15T10:42:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/wordpress\/?p=1528"},"modified":"2009-08-15T11:42:49","modified_gmt":"2009-08-15T10:42:49","slug":"the-joy-of-blogging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/nighthawk\/?p=1528","title":{"rendered":"The joy of blogging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In today&#8217;s &#8220;Guardian&#8221;, there&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/money\/2009\/aug\/15\/blogging-business-opportunity\">an article<\/a> about how some bloggers have become so popular that they have been able to make money from their writing.<br \/>\nI&#8217;ve been blogging now for more than six years and thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to express myself on different issues. However, I&#8217;ve never seen or wanted a commercial dimension to my blogging and don&#8217;t even use Google Adsense.<br \/>\nReading the &#8220;Guardian&#8221; article though, made me think when I saw that one blogger who signed a book deal won the contract on the basis that her blog at one point was receiving 4,000 visits a day. Now my web site and two blogs regularly receive 5,000 visits a day and, in the busiest months of the year, hit 6,000.<br \/>\nMy blogging is too personal and eclectic to be publishable but, if someone was interested in publishing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/#life_skills\">the life skills section<\/a> of my web site or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/#short_stories\">my collection of short stories<\/a>, I&#8217;d be happy to talk.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In today&#8217;s &#8220;Guardian&#8221;, there&#8217;s an article about how some bloggers have become so popular that they have been able to make money from their writing.
