The chosen venue was the wonderfully named pub <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theclogandbillycock.com\">&#8220;The Clog and Billycock&#8221;<\/a> in the Lancashire village of Pleasington.<br \/>\nIt was only a small gathering of 12 but represented three generations of the family. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theclogandbillycock.com\/pdf\/clog-summer-09-menu.pdf\">menu<\/a> was excellent with some original fare  (I had fried cauliflower for the first time) and, to conclude the meal, my sister (Dom&#8217;s mother) had baked a delicious birthday cake (I had two slices).<br \/>\nFor Vee and me, driving there from London and back again was a round trip of some 450 miles, but it was a thoroughly enjoyable gathering.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My sister&#8217;s youngest son Dom is 30 today and the family celebrated the event at a special gathering near to his home close to Blackburn.
