{"id":1373,"date":"2009-04-04T20:24:20","date_gmt":"2009-04-04T19:24:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/wordpress\/?p=1373"},"modified":"2009-04-04T20:24:20","modified_gmt":"2009-04-04T19:24:20","slug":"a-sunny-day-in-oxford","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/nighthawk\/?p=1373","title":{"rendered":"A sunny day in Oxford"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today Vee and I made one of our regular visits to Oxford to see our dear Chinese &#8216;family&#8217;: Hua, Zhihao and Joshua (almost two).<br \/>\nIt was lovely weather and so, after a delicious homemade Chinese meal, we went for a walk to a part of Oxford that we haven&#8217;t viewed before. It&#8217;s called <a jref=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jericho,_Oxford\">Jericho<\/a> and is by the side of the canal where many barges are moored. This area was the inspiration for the Gyptian community in the book &#8220;Northern Lights&#8221; [my review <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/fbooks.html#HDM1\">here<\/a>] and the centre of a successful battle against redevelopment [see campaign <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jcby.co.uk\/newest1.html\">here<\/a>].<br \/>\nWe all stopped for drinks and desserts at a cafe called FREVD on Walton Street.
