{"id":1365,"date":"2009-03-30T13:45:26","date_gmt":"2009-03-30T12:45:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/wordpress\/?p=1365"},"modified":"2009-03-30T13:45:26","modified_gmt":"2009-03-30T12:45:26","slug":"the-pill-pilot-trial-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/nighthawk\/?p=1365","title":{"rendered":"The PILL pilot trial (2)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This morning, together with my wife, I made a second visit to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.icch.org.uk\/\">International Centre for Circulatory Health<\/a> at St Mary&#8217;s Hospital at Paddington in London to be considered for participation in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.strokecenter.org\/trials\/TrialDetail.aspx?tid=896\">a pilot trial<\/a> for a &#8220;polypill&#8221; to treat people at raised risk of cardiovascular disease such as as heart attack or stroke.<br \/>\nWe had our blood pressure tested another three times and then all the data from the two visits was fed into a computer to assess our suitability for the trial.  My wife was judged too healthy for inclusion, but I was judged to have a marginal level of risk that justified me being in the trial. So I was given a packet of pills which I have to take each day at dinner time.
