Last night, he returned home to London and five family members &#8211; plus banner &#8211; were there to greet and congratulate him.<\/p>\n<p>Just a reminder of what David achieved.\u00a0First, he swam 2.4 miles (3.9 kms) in 1 hour 4 minutes 50 seconds; then he rode a bike for 112 miles (180 kms) in 5 hours 23 minutes 24 seconds; and finally he ran a marathon of 26.2 miles (42 kms) in 3 hours 54 minutes 31 seconds.<\/p>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/IM1.jpg\" border=\"3\" \/><br \/>\n<span>David&#8217;s mother Mari, brother Martin and auntie Vera<br \/>\nwelcome him and his wife back to Heathrow Airport<\/span><\/center><center><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/IM2.jpg\" border=\"3\" \/><br \/>\n<span>David with wife Sharon and<br \/>\nluggage including his bike<\/span><\/center><center><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/IM3.jpg\" border=\"3\" \/><br \/>\n<span>Roger with David&#8217;s World Ironman medal<br \/>\n&#8211; the closest he&#8217;ll ever get to owning one<\/span><\/center><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A week ago, I did a posting about how one of Vee&#8217;s nephews, David Rowe, had successfully competed in this year&#8217;s annual World Ironman event in Hawaii.
