This is brought home to us especially when there is a big event that attracts the interest of people around the globe and developments are fast-moving. A classic example was the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami in south-east Asia &#8211; see <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2004_Indian_Ocean_earthquake\">here<\/a>.<br \/>\nAnother such case has been this week&#8217;s terrible atrocities in the Indian city of Mumbai.  An early examination of how information on the attacks made available on the Net was much quicker &#8211; but not always more accurate &#8211; than that of the conventional media can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/world\/2008\/nov\/28\/mumbai-terror-attacks-india-internet-technology-twitter\">here<\/a>.
