So I was fascinated by the sixth episode of\u00a0\u00a0the Sky Atlantic series\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Oliver_Stone's_Untold_History_of_the_United_States\">&#8220;Oliver Stone&#8217;s Untold History Of The United States&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0which covers the period of the crisis.<\/p>\n<p>I was not previously aware of the role of\u00a0\u00a0Vasili Arkhipov who was naval officer aboard a Soviet submarine whose captain wished to launch a nuclear torpedo attack on American vessels.
