﻿{"id":10842,"date":"2013-02-22T11:37:49","date_gmt":"2013-02-22T10:37:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/nighthawk\/?p=10842"},"modified":"2013-02-22T11:42:47","modified_gmt":"2013-02-22T10:42:47","slug":"which-are-the-11-states-supporting-the-new-financial-transaction-tax","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/nighthawk\/?p=10842","title":{"rendered":"Which are the 11 states supporting the new financial transaction tax?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was originally called the Tobin tax after the economist who first proposed the idea some 40 years ago and I first blogged about it more than three years ago <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rogerdarlington.me.uk\/nighthawk\/?p=1616\">here<\/a>; subsequently it became known as the Robin Hood tax in a effort to popularise its appeal; it is a financial transaction tax (FTT) and it is about to be introduced by the European Commissioner Algirdas Semeta as he explains <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/commentisfree\/2013\/feb\/21\/robin-hood-tax-step-closer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This small but lucrative tax will be just 0.1% on bonds and shares and 0.01% on derivatives and it will raise around \u20ac30-35bn (\u00a326-30bn or $40-47bn)\u00a0 per year.<\/p>\n<p>Eleven European Union member states have agreed to implement the tax.
